The Foundry Brew pub are well into their brew plan for Kent Green Hop Beers.
They’ve brewed seriously Saison 4.5 % with 50kg of hops in 4 barrel brew. Then moved on to Hop pickers tipple 4.6% with a priest.
The next stage is a collaboration with Dave from Tonbridge and Jon from Foundry on a green hop beer for the 2022 Canterbury Beer festival as we are all missing out this year. There are more details to follow, but the insider info is that it will be along the lines of a 10% Treble IPA aged for a year in an 18 gallon aged sherry cask.
Hop Pickers Tipple
This tongue-twister of an ale has been brewed to celebrate the hop growing heritage of the county of Kent and the hard work of staff and students at Canterbury Christ Church University who grow and harvest the hops that go into this green hop ale.
The hops are grown on the campus which lies within the precincts of St Augustine’s Abbey (part of the Canterbury UNESCO world heritage site).
The campus contains the remains of monks’ medieval brew-house, where the harvested hops are blessed each year before being walked through the city to Jon at Canterbury Brewers and Distillers, Foundry Brew Pub.
